Wasilla City Council bans synthetic drugs

By KTVA CBS 11 News 5:17 AM April 15, 2014
ANCHORAGE –

In a 5-1 vote, the Wasilla City Council passed a measure to ban synthetic drugs like Spice Monday.

The city clerk’s office says the ban will take effect immediately.

The ban is a lot like Anchorage’s, targeting misleading labeling rather than the chemical compounds inside.

Synthetic drug makers have tried to get around the law by simply changing the chemicals in the drugs.

This was the second time the city council took up the issue. It was voted down back in February.
