Wanted man surrenders to troopers after watching National Geographic show

By KTVA CBS 11 News 6:37 AM June 23, 2014
ANCHORAGE –

A man with multiple felony warrants said he was inspired by a National Geographic TV show when he turned himself in to Alaska State Troopers Friday evening.

According to AST dispatch, 49-year-old Brian John Fahey approached two troopers in the parking lot of their Anchorage headquarters around 6:20 p.m. Fahey, who had escaped from an Anchorage halfway house, told troopers that he had watched the Alaska State Troopers show and believed troopers “were more professional and courteous to the people they arrested than other law enforcement personnel he had dealt with,” according to trooper dispatch.

Troopers confirmed Fahey had outstanding warrants for failing to appear and second-degree escape. He was remanded to the Anchorage Jail where his bail was set at $20,000.
