Cell phone video shows what led to an officer-involved shooting in Bethel Friday morning.
Police officers were called to an “ongoing disturbance” at a home, according to Alaska State Troopers. Once there, police were confronted with a 31-year-old bat-wielding man, who radio station KYUK has identified as Aaron Moses.
Cell phone video of the incident was taken by an anonymous source and given to KYUK, which it posted on its Facebook page. The video shows Moses approaching officers several times while holding the bat.
Troopers said police tried to subdue Moses with a Taser, but the man struggled and a police officer was hit the by bat. An officer ultimately shot Moses in the abdomen. He was stabilized in Bethel and flown to Anchorage for treatment.
Authorities are investigating the shooting.
