Union, Enstar at impasse in negotiations

By KTVA CBS 11 News 8:28 PM July 9, 2014
ANCHORAGE –

Enstar employees appear closer to going on strike.

Wednesday evening, sources with the United Association Plumbers and Steamfitters Union Local 367 told KTVA negotiations between Enstar and the union had broken down and are unlikely to resume.

Union reps said the two sides are at an impasse after two days of negotiations. A strike is likely in the near future, they said.

Enstar and the union have been trying to hammer out a new contract for months. The sticking points include cuts to the workers’ benefits and pensions.

The union said it has been willing to make concessions, but so far Enstar has been unwilling to budge.

Enstar was unable to comment Wednesday night.
