Montana State Billings couldn’t defend against the Seawolves' fast break.
ANCHORAGE – Chelsea Banis, the Buzz’s 6 foot 4 inch center, stands four inches taller than the Seawolves’ Keke Wright.
But height isn’t everything, and Wright led the game with eight rebounds — two more than Banis. The Seawolves had 12 more defensive rebounds than Billings in their 90-59 win.
“It probably was my best game of the season so far,” Wright said.
Wright, along with teammate Emily Craft, led the Seawolves in scoring with 16 points each. Banis put the Buzz up 21-17 with a nice post halfway through the first half, but that would be it for Montana State as UAA went into the second half of the game nine points ahead.
Ryan McCarthy, UAA head coach, credited fast transitions with the majority of Montana State’s troubles.
“I thought the guards did a good job of pushing the floor and the post did a good job of sprinting the floor and getting easy buckets,” McCarthy said.
