South High School graduate Katelynn Zanders earned the distinction with 13 double-doubles.
ANCHORAGE – At 7: 30 a.m. Wednesday, Katelynn Zanders received the news: The sophomore outside hitter from South High School was named the second team All-American.
She had 13 double-doubles.
Rhea Cardwell in 2008 and Robin Burton in 2011 are the only other UAA Seawolves to go second team All-American.
Zanders said she knows what the distinction means for her program.
“Helps with recruiting … says that we are a good program up here,” she said. “Even though we’re up in Alaska, we still compete and we still have good athletes.”
