Two people were killed in a house fire in Sutton early Friday morning, authorities said.
A third person, only identified as a 46-year-old man, was able to escape, said Alaska State Troopers in a report.
According to troopers, the 46-year-old man woke up around 1 a.m., opened his bedroom door and discovered that the McPherson Avenue house was full of thick smoke.
He crawled to the front door, escaped the burning house and called for help from a neighbor’s home, troopers said.
The cause and circumstances of the fire are being investigated by the state fire marshal’s office. The identities of the two people killed won’t be released until their next-of-kin have been notified.
