Anita Nelson with Visit Anchorage stopped by Daybreak for Travel Tuesday. With a rising demographic of world travelers, she discussed how Anchorage could get on their radars.
Nelson said the demographic of travelers is changing and that includes what the “post-millennial” generation looks for on vacation. According to Nelson, the generation born in and after 1998 is influenced by social experiences, more than material goods.
“So, they’re going to to seek experiences over souvenirs,” Nelson said.
She added that a big difference is that the post-millennial generation suffers from ‘Fear of Missing Out,’ also known as FOMO. To that end, they are very connected and will share their experiences more, possibly bringing more travelers to Anchorage, she said.
