ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTVA CBS 11 News)- A war is brewing between Levi Johnston, the father of Sarah Palin's grandson, and late night comedy host Conan O'brien.
Wednesday night the Tonight Show with Conan O'brien a comedy sketch featuring William Shatner claimed to be word for word what Levi Johnston tweeted on his Twitter account.
Among the tweets:
"Anyone know where I can get some good weed?"
"Is it true fat kids never get kidnapped?"
"You know you're a celebrity when strangers want to see your penis. LMAO. "
The day after the show aired, Levi Johnston and his attorney Rex Butler spoke exclusively with CBS 11 News.
Andrea Gusty: "Did you post those things on Twitter?"
Levi Johnston: "No. I've never had a twitter account. I don't know Twitter. I really don't know what it is. I don't have MySpace, Facebook. Yeah, none of that stuff is me."
Instead, Levi and his attorney say the tweets came from someone impersonating Levi on Twitter. Butler saying the Tonight Show and NBC officials should have known better than to attribute the tweets to Johnston.
Rex Butler: "The thing that we don't like is that a simple phone call from NBC could have eliminated this problem. A number of media outlets have called to ask first is this Levi Johnston's Twitter page? And we have told them no, and that was the end of it, and nothing was printed. NBC, whoever produced the show couldn't even pick up a phone and call someone first
With projects like commercials and posing for Playgirl, Levi Johnston has become a house-hold name. And now, he says Alaskans need to keep one thing in mind:
Johnston: "Don't believe everything you see on TV I guess."
Gusty: "Unless it is coming straight from you?"
Johnston: "Unless it is coming straight from the guy's mouth."
Butler has been in contact with Twitter officials to urge them to take down the multiple Twitter accounts claiming to be Levi's.
Butler: "We'll see what happens with that, and then we'll also determine what needs to happen with NBC for making what we believe is a truly reckless mistake. One that could have been avoided with a simple phone call."
Gusty: "Is this the last we are going to hear about it?"
Butler: "No."
Gusty: "Is there any possible legal action?"
Butler: "I don't talk like that until we have to move in that direction."
As for Johnston, he says he is enjoying his new found celebrity status and he says people impersonating him is part of the game.
Johnston: "I don't know. I'm sure a lot of celebrities, they deal with the same thing, I mean it happens. But I just want to say its not me."
Levi Johnston is set to pose for Playgirl on November 16th, which just happens to be the same day Sarah Palin will be on Oprah to talk about her new book "Going Rogue."
