Elderly victim left unconscious and bleeding in front yard
ANCHORAGE – A 76-year-old man awoke “in a pool of his own blood” last week after police say he was robbed in the front yard of his South Anchorage home.
A spokeswoman for the Anchorage Police Department said the call came in just after 5:30 p.m. Friday, when the victim’s wife told dispatchers her husband had been injured. When officers arrived at the residence on the 4500 block of Edinburgh Drive, the victim said he had been doing yard work outside when he was approached by three young black men who asked him for “donations for their team.”
After he declined their request, the man said he turned his back on the trio. It was the last thing he remembered. When he awoke, medics were responding to the scene and his wallet, ring and keys were missing.
Police said the victim was treated for injuries to his face and head, and ask anyone with information about the attack to contact APD at 786-8900. To leave an anonymous tip, call Anchorage Crime Stoppers at 561-STOP.
