Anchorage's Sea Galley founders after nearly 40 years
The Sea Galley restaurant in Midtown Anchorage is closing its doors this month.
Staff announced that Sea Galley will be closing on Oct. 21, in a Facebook post Monday afternoon.
Sea Galley describes itself as an American and seafood restaurant on its website and is known in Anchorage as the Viking-backed bar. It carries football games and pay-per-view UFC fights.
For the past 33 years the restaurant has hosted an annual oyster-shucking contest during Fur Rondy.
KTVA called to ask why the restaurant is closing, but a manager was not available Monday.
