Anchorage police have identified the man who was shot and killed Thursday night in East Anchorage.

Police identified the victim as 29-year-old David Rodriguez.

Police say it was a dispute between two neighbors, where one neighbor shot the other. Officers responded after dispatch received a call about a shooting in the 1500 block of South Hoyt Street around 6:30 p.m.

"One male shot the other in the upper body. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene," police wrote.

The suspected shooter was detained and questioned extensively by detectives. The shooter was then released with no charges, according to police.

This was an isolated incident and there is no public safety threat. No other suspects are sought.

Police are still investigating and following up on several leads that stem from the interview with the shooter.
