Alaska State Troopers say they're looking for a Palmer man who walked away from his camp near Hope on Friday night and hasn't been seen since.

According to an online dispatch, 56-year-old Earl “Rocky” Ashworth III reportedly walked away from his camp, located near Milepost 56 of the Seward Highway, in an unknown direction.

Troopers searched the area but have had no luck finding him.

"AST Helo-3 along with volunteers from the Alaska Mountain Rescue Group, Alaska Search and Rescue Dogs along with Alaska Solstice Search Dogs responded to the scene and conducted a thorough search of the area with negative results," troopers wrote.

Ashworth was last seen wearing blue jeans, a blue t-shirt with cut-off sleeves and an American Eagle on the front of it.

Late Sunday afternoon, AST spokeswoman Megan Peters said search efforts are on hold until crews get a better indication where he may be.

Anyone who may have seen Ashworth or have information on his whereabouts is asked to contact Alaska State Troopers or your local police department.
