On familiar ground; Juneau stands alone again
Juneau Post 25 showed the bounce-back ability of a champion.
The fortitude paid off in the form of a second straight Alaska Legion baseball title with a 7-0 victory over Dimond Post 21 at Mulcahy Stadium on Tuesday.
After dropping the tournament opener with Kodiak on Friday, it roared back to claim another crown. Juneau topped West earlier on Tuesday to reach the final.
In the nightcap versus Dimond, a second-inning run scored by Owen Mendoza on a wild pitch and an error was all the offense it would need.
From that point, it was Phil Wall's show. The starter went seven innings tossing five strikeouts for the complete game shutout.
"I've always wanted to pitch in a championship game and I've never had the opportunity, but it felt really great to support my team in that way and get us the dub (win)," he said.
Next up, Juneau heads to Montana for regional action.
