A Talkeetna man is facing charges after troopers say he hit a flagger in a construction zone on the Parks Highway.

Friday afternoon around 2:45, Alaska State Troopers were called to mile 100 of the Parks Highway in Talkeetna where they say a flagger had been struck by a man in a pickup truck.

Troopers say 58-year-old John Stefanski, of Talkeetna, drove his black GMC pickup passed a stopped semi-truck in a work zone.

Two flaggers attempted to stop Stefanski, and one was struck by the pickup at a low speed. The flagger was not injured.

The second flagger told troopers he was in fear of also being struck by the pickup.

Two hours later, troopers initiated a traffic stop on Stefanski on the Spur in Talkeetna.

He was arrested and charged with two counts of third-degree assault.
