A 25-year-old man who fell overboard Thursday from a fishing vessel on the Ugashik River is being sought by U.S. Coast Guard searchers and good Samaritans.

Grant Hildreth Jr., 25, reportedly fell into the river at about 4 p.m., troopers said in an online dispatch. Word of the fall was relayed to troopers by the village public safety officer in Pilot Point.

“Crew members attempted to get a flotation device to Hildreth, but Hildreth went under the water and has not been seen since,” troopers wrote at about 8:15 p.m. Thursday. “Hildreth was reported to not be wearing a personal flotation device at the time of the incident.”

Vessels in the area were joining Coast Guard assets in the search for Hildreth. His family has been notified, troopers said.
