RV driver believed impaired in fatal E. Anchorage crash
Anchorage Police say the RV driver involved in the East Anchorage crash last month has died, and they believe she was driving impaired.
Police say just before 4 a.m. on July 19, the driver of a white 1991 Holiday Vacationer was traveling northbound on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, ran a red light and then struck a blue 2000 GMC Sierra that was traveling eastbound on Tudor Road.
According to APD spokesperson MJ Thim, the two vehicles collided at the intersection. A female driver in the motorhome was taken to the hospital with critical injuries; on Monday police reported the woman died from the injuries.
Toxicology test results are being conducted to determine if she was driving impaired. Her name is being withheld pending next of kin notification.
The male driver in the truck was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries. Police say they have not received an update on the truck driver's condition.
