Anchorage police have located the vehicle from which they say shots were fired at an SUV, leaving the SUV's driver suffering multiple gunshot wounds.

The vehicle, a Kia Optima, was impounded July 17 according to police.

The incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. on Monday, July 2, near the Dimond Boulevard overpass along Minnesota Drive.

Officers say an occupant of a white sedan fired multiple rounds at a stopped red Chevy Tahoe in the area.

APD says both vehicles were traveling westbound on Dimond before the shooting, and both vehicles left the scene immediately afterward.

The female driver of the SUV suffered multiple gunshot wounds to her lower and upper body but was said to be expected to survive.

APD says their initial investigation shows the victim's vehicle, due to its make and model, was targeted, but the victim herself was not the intended target.

The photos of the white sedan released July 2 were pulled from surveillance footage.
