One person was taken to a local hospital overnight after being shot multiple times during an altercation.

Anchorage police dispatch received a call around 12:30 a.m. Monday alerting them to a shooting between two vehicles at the intersection of Dimond Boulevard and Minnesota Drive. 

During their initial investigation, officers determined that an occupant of a white car fired multiple rounds at a red Chevy Tahoe while stopped at the intersection.

The two vehicles had been traveling west on Dimond Blvd. prior to the shooting, according to police.

Both vehicles reportedly left the scene immediately after the shooting.

The female driver of the red SUV was found in the area of 8700 Flamingo Drive shortly after. She had been shot multiple times in the lower and upper body.

The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries and is expected to survive, according to Anchorage police spokesperson MJ Thim. 

The intersection of Dimond Blvd. and Minnesota Dr. was closed for over an hour as police investigated the incident. 

The intersection was reopened around 2:30 a.m.

Anchorage police ask anyone with information about this incident, including surveillance video, to call Dispatch at 311 (Option # 1) or to remain anonymous call Crime Stoppers at 907-561-STOP.
