Alaska State Troopers say two people were rushed to the hospital with injuries after the driver lost control of his vehicle in Talkeetna early Sunday morning.

According to troopers' online dispatch, Logan Nichols, 23, of Wasilla was driving westbound on Talkeetna Spur Road when he lost control of his 1997 Ford Explorer. Near Mile 11, the vehicle flipped over and landed in a ditch.

"Passenger that was in the vehicle was ejected sustaining serious injuries. Logan was transported by EMS for injuries sustained in the collision and passenger was transported my Life Med," troopers wrote.

Troopers believe alcohol was a factor in the crash and say Nichols and the passenger were not wearing seatbelts.

The investigation is ongoing.
