After nearly three decades in Alaska radio, a popular Anchorage host is taking his show on the road.

Anchorage station KWHL’s Bob Lester has taken a morning radio job in Dallas, so he can be closer to the family of his wife – Lori Lester, a former host of KTVA’s Daybreak.

Lester says radio is all he’s ever wanted to do since he was 4 years old. He’s been at it in Alaska for the past 28 years.

Although Lester has been on-air for many important events in Alaska, the ones he remembers most are the most personal.

“The birth of my children – all three of my boys were born live on the radio. which is pretty cool,” Lester said. “The first one in ’95, Kenny, and then 2001 Bobby, and Roy just four years ago. Hopefully, the next one will be born live on Dallas radio in November.”

Friday was Lester’s last day on the local radio dial.
