A former Alaska corrections officer was sentenced in a child pornography case Thursday in Palmer.

Stewart Blakeslee, 35, was sentenced in Palmer Superior Court Wednesday on a consolidated count of possession of child pornography.

According to the Alaska Dept. of Law, Blakeslee was apprehended following a cyber tip from the National Center of Missing and Exploited Children to the Anchorage Police Department back in May 2017.

The tip indicated a Yahoo! messenger account upload images depicting child porn form an IP address associated with the Grand View Inn & Suites Hotel in Wasilla.

Alaska State Troopers investigators connected the messenger account to Blakeslee, who authorities say was staying at the hotel while attending a Prisoner Transport Officer School.

A search of Blakeslee's home computer in Kasilof found dozens of images and videos depicting child sexual exploitation, authorities say.

Blakeslee, who was employed at the Spring Creek Correctional Center at the time of his arrest, was sentenced to eight years with four suspended, seven years of supervised felony probation and registration as a sex offender for 15 years.
