Troopers investigate sudden death aboard Alaska Railroad train
An Ohio woman died suddenly while onboard an Alaska Railroad train in the Valley Saturday afternoon, Alaska state troopers say.
According to troopers' online dispatch, 77-year-old Ruby Heacock of Marion, Ohio was having trouble breathing on the train before she died.
Just before 3 o'clock, troopers received a call from the Alaska Railroad crew about Heacock. Troopers and emergency crews responded to the train located at the railroad crossing on East Fireweed Road in Wasilla. When crews got inside, Heacock was laying in the isle unresponsive.
"Palmer AST and Mat-Su Borough EMS performed CPR and other lifesaving measures," troopers wrote. "Ruby Heacock died on scene of natural causes."
Next of kin was at the scene and released Heacock's body to an Anchorage funeral home.
Troopers say there were no signs of foul play, but they are still investigating.
