The body of a man reported missing over the weekend east of Skwentna was recovered Thursday, Alaska State Troopers said.

A troopers helicopter and boat responded to the Lake Creek area and retrieved the remains of 67-year-old William Mazoch from a log jam, troopers said in a dispatch Friday. Members of his family were present.

Mazoch, who has property near Bulchitna Lake, had spoken to a neighbor by phone on Friday. That person went to meet with him on Sunday but couldn’t find him, prompting an initial helicopter and boat search by troopers.

The state medical examiner’s office in Anchorage took custody of Mazoch’s remains for further investigation.
