Anchorage Police are investigating a shooting that left a person with a gunshot wound to the butt following an alleged theft Wednesday afternoon, authorities say. 

Just before 1 p.m., Police responded to reports of a shooting in Fairview involving two people on bicycles, police say. The shooting happened after the suspect confronted the victim about a theft. The victim then chased after the suspect who pulled a gun on the victim. The victim saw the gun then attempted to take off on their bicycle. 

"The suspect fired his weapon more than once, striking the victim one time in the backside in the area of 13th and Denali," police wrote in a statement.  

APD spokesperson MJ Thim confirmed the victim was shot in the butt. 

The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. 

No arrests have been made. 

The suspect is described as a black male who was last seen wearing a light blue jacket and blue jeans. He was also riding a maroon bicycle.
