Man thrown from Harley in Parks Highway crash
An Eagle River man was medevaced to a hospital after his motorcycle struck a vehicle on the Parks Highway Saturday night, authorities say.
Around 5 p.m., Beverly St. John, 64, of Trapper Creek and Allen Leavelle, 53, of Eagle River were both traveling southbound on the Parks Highway near mile 99 when Leavelle's Harley Davidson struck St. John's Impala that was turning into a parking lot, Alaska State Troopers wrote in an online dispatch.
Troopers responded to mile 99 of the Parks Highway at 5:07 p.m.
"Both vehicles received minor damage and Leavelle was air-lifted to an Anchorage hospital for head trauma, but was conscious and alert," troopers wrote.
St. John was wearing a seatbelt, however, Leavelle was not wearing a helmet, according to the online dispatch.
Alcohol is not a factor; the investigation is ongoing.
