A collision Saturday afternoon on Big Lake involving two jet-skis seriously injured one of the two riders involved, according to Mat-Su Borough medics.

Ken Barkley, deputy chief of the borough’s emergency services, said crews responded at about 4:15 p.m. to the recreation area on the lake’s northern shore. A man who was riding one of the personal watercraft suffered a bone-deep cut to his left wrist.

“Bleeding was controlled by bystanders; medics assessed him on scene,” Barkley said.

The injured man was taken to Mat-Su Regional Medical Center for treatment, Barkley said, with the other jet-ski rider unhurt in the crash.

The Big Lake collision comes the day after a canoe capsized on Wasilla’s Finger Lake, leaving 19-year-old local man Bryce Adams dead and a second boater hospitalized for treatment.
