Police clear Fairview business after burglary call
Anchorage police are investigating what they are calling an armed burglary at a business in Fairview Tuesday morning, after they formed a perimeter but didn't find anybody at the scene.
At 8:15 a.m., police released a statement saying the burglary happened at Quality Rides, an auto shop located at 550 East 13th Avenue.
A "large perimeter" has been set up between Eagle Street and Fairbanks Street.
APD spokesman MJ Thim said officers had asked people to avoid the 500 block of East 13th Avenue between Eagle and Fairbanks streets.
Nearly 20 officers were deployed from patrol and K-9 units, Thim said.
Initially, police believed at least one person was inside the business, but after conducting a search they didn't find anyone.
There were no reports of shots fired and no suspect descriptions immediately available, according to Thim.
