Preparing for the royal wedding from 4,465 miles away
Most of us probably weren't invited to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's glamorous royal wedding in London, but that hasn't stopped at least one woman in Anchorage from celebrating.
Local bridal boutique owner Orainda Beile is counting down the hours until the couple says I do. In fact, she's offered discounts at her shop all month in preparation and her mannequins are dressed in styles she hopes the bride will be wearing.
The royal wedding is expected to cost $45 million.
Beile says she can't wait to see what that looks like.
“Meghan is an American Girl, and it’s like all of our Disney dreams coming true for one of our own,” Beile said. “For me, it’s the excitement of love, that there is hope and possibility, and with all of the ugliness in the world, we get to witness something beautiful.”
Beile is still holding onto her copy of the last royal wedding but says she'll be watching this one live.
She says the only downside is the wedding doesn't start until 3 a.m. Alaska time.
You'll be able to watch CBS News' extensive coverage on television and multiple streaming platforms, starting at midnight.
