A strong storm is developing in Bristol Bay that will bring increasing wind to Southcentral on Friday.

It will be windy in the gap areas like Turnagain Arm and in higher elevations like Hillside.

Turnagain Arm and Upper Hillside could get up to gusts up to 70 mph with the peak winds on Friday afternoon through early Saturday morning.

Anchorage winds could gust up to 45 mph with sustained winds out of the southeast from 20 to 35 mph. And the Matanuska winds will be similar to Anchorage.

The storm will also bring heavy rain at times to the eastern Kenai Peninsula and Prince William Sound. Western areas will get much of the rain blocked by the mountains but there will be some showers that fall, mainly on Friday afternoon and evening.
