A teenage boy was airlifted Saturday night after falling from a cliff while hiking.

Alaska State Troopers received the call from 17-year-old Moses Larson, of Palmer, around 9 p.m. Saturday. Moses told authorities he'd fallen from a cliff while hiking the Butte in Palmer.

Troopers, along with Butte Fire and EMS, responded to the area of Sandvik Circle to begin a search and rescue operation.

Moses was located, and it was determined he'd suffered a broken leg and other minor injuries, and his location made it "extremely dangerous" to move him by ground down the mountainside, leading rescuers to decide they needed additional resources to move Moses to safely.

The Alaska Mountain Rescue Group and Alaska Rescue Coordination Center responded, airlifting Moses to Alaska Regional Hospital.
