It’s being called Alaska’s largest comic book and pop-culture convention. The first ever “Arctic Comic Con” will be at the Dena’ina Center next weekend, on April 28 and 29.

“If you want to go to something like this you have to go out of state -- you have to go to Seattle or the big one in San Diego,” said organizer Brad Erickson. “Nice to have something here in Alaska.”

The two-day convention will feature memorabilia, pop-culture art, comic creators, beer garden, cosplay contest, escape room and a retro-game lounge.

“It’s for enthusiasts of all sources of science fiction, comic books and pop culture to come together and celebrate collecting, movies, a little bit of everything,” said organizer Mike Lajoie.

There will also be long lineup of meet-and-greets with celebrities like Ian Ziering, John Schneider, Randy Couture, Brian Posehn and Kristen Renton, among others.
