A man who Anchorage Police say escaped from a halfway house, nearly a month ago, was arrested after he was caught inside a recently vacant apartment in Mountain View.

Reynant Elmundo, 36, was reported missing from the Cordova Center on March 14 after he had permission to go to the Food Bank, however, he took off and never returned, according to a written statement by APD.

Police were called to an apartment complex located on the 4600-block of Thompson Avenue at 2:29 a.m. Saturday after the apartment manager heard second-hand information about someone breaking into a unit that was vacated a few days prior.

"Officers responded and located two people inside, one of whom was Reynant," APD wrote. "There was no damage to the apartment and the manager chose not to press charges as long as the two individuals left."

Reynant was arrested on his escape warrant and then taken to the Anchorage Jail.
