Wasilla man gravely wounded when road rage ends in gunfire
Alaska State Troopers say a road rage incident between two drivers left one of them severely injured in a Willow shooting overnight Monday.
Just after midnight, troopers and emergency crews responded to the shooting which happened near the Willow-area Sunshine Clinic. Trent Wohlers, a 25-year-old Wasilla man, was driving northbound on the Parks Highway when he got into a "road rage incident" with a female driver, according to AST's online dispatch.
"Wohlers followed the other vehicle into Willow to the Sunshine Clinic where the female driver met with her boyfriend," troopers wrote. "A physical altercation ensued which resulted in Wohlers getting shot."
Wohlers was medevaced to Providence Alaska Medical Center with "potentially life-threatening injuries," troopers said. Providence staff reported that he was in serious condition Tuesday.
No arrests have been made. The investigation is ongoing.
The dispatch didn't say whether any suspects had been identified or interviewed; a trooper spokesperson wasn't immediately available Tuesday afternoon.
