A snowmachiner traveling a substantial distance in the Yukon Delta Wildlife National Refuge has gone missing.

Sunday afternoon, Jazmin James, 26, was reported missing by family. Alaska State Troopers say James was reportedly traveling from Nunapitchuk to Tununak on Saturday.

James made it Nightmute before heading toward Toksook Bay and Tununak. Residents in Nightmute told troopers that James was having track problems.

Search and Rescue teams from Toksook Bay and Tununak began searching. Around 6:20 Sunday evening, James' snowmachine was located on sea ice but was only revealed when high tide subsided.

Troopers say there's no indication he walked on the ice from where the snowmachine was found. The vehicle was recovered and taken to Toksook Bay.

Search efforts for James are ongoing.
