The Alaska Oilers 15U Hockey Team gets in one of its last practices before players pack their bags and head to Detroit.

They will take part in the national tournament for the third straight season.

The Oilers are 14-ranked nationally and want to do more than just make it to the tournament.

"We've got the winning mentality, these boys know what they need to do, we've been practicing all season long for this, as long as we skate hard, we play aggressive, tenacious on the puck, we show them what Alaska can do, we should be fine, yes sir," said Defenseman Trey Whitehead.

Meanwhile, the Alaska Oilers 14U Team will also hit the road. Players will compete in the national tournament in Amherst, New York, near Buffalo.

"Fun experience, first time on the East Coast for me, be a great time, first time at nationals, get to play with my buddies, be fun," said Defenseman Kort Sjostrom.

Both tournaments start April 5.
