Anchorage Police have identified the officer who fired the shots that killed a stabbing suspect over the weekend.
Officer Randy Morales, who's been with the Anchorage Police Department since May 2015, shot and killed 20-year-old Zander Clark, APD says.
Clark was a suspect in a domestic violence stabbing in the parking lot of the Home Depot near Northway Mall Saturday evening. Witnesses say Clark stabbed a woman in the parking lot, then ran towards the Penland Parkway mobile home community.
Officers gave chase, APD spokesperson Renee Oistad says, but Clark turned around-- with knife in hand-- and ran towards the officer, forcing Officer Morales to discharge his firearm.
Clark was declared deceased at the scene.
