From learning how to negotiate your salary to understanding small business trends, the Anchorage Chamber of Commerce's third annual Young Professionals Group is hosting a series of workshops for young people in the workforce. Danicia Shirayaev and Ron DeWitt, Vice Chair and Chair of the Young Professionals Group joined Daybreak on Tuesday with details about the event.

"It's two days immersed with workshops and seminars," said DeWitt. "We're starting out with a C-suite panel."

A C-suite panel is a panel geared to teach the roles of CFOs, COOs and CEOs.

"The big thing is that it's geared for corporate and entrepreneurship. We definitely try to cater to all crowds," DeWitt said.

Shiryayaev gave an idea of the age range that may benefit best from this summit, "We're talking between 21 and 39, however, we do not kick anybody out, we accept really all ages, the young at heart as well."

The Alaska Young Professionals Summit caters to many ranges of professional experience.

Shiryayaev said, "We have young professionals that are leaders in Anchorage, but we also have people merging on to the work scene who have never been in a professional environment before. I think it's important for both of those groups to be able to come in to a place together and network, but also have an opportunity to learn; maybe not industry specific workshops, but business development as a whole."

The 2018 Alaska Young Professionals Summit is taking place Friday and Saturday, March 30-31, at the Dena'ina Center.

Tickets are $225 for Anchorage Chamber members and $275 for non-members. They recommend you register early and you can do so at
