For the third time in four years, the Barrow boys are 3A state champions. The Whalers topped Grace Christian 65-52 on Saturday afternoon at the Alaska Airlines Center in Anchorage.

Sophomore guard Brendon Matthews racked a game-high 30 points for Barrow, shooting 7-10 from three-point range. Grace Christian was led by Alaska Gatorade Player of the Year Tobin Karlberg, who dropped in 28 points in the defeat.

On the 3A girls side, it was ACS winning ASAA March Madness for a second straight year. The Lady Lions defeated Sitka 56-46. Junior Jordan Todd led ACS with a double-double, 19 points and 16 rebounds.
