An early-morning fight outside a south Anchorage restaurant Saturday left one man stabbed and wounded, according to police, with no suspect yet charged.

Officers responded just before 3 a.m. to initial reports of a shooting at Asia Garden at 7828 Old Seward Hwy, north of Dimond Boulevard.

Police learned that “two groups of intoxicated individuals” had been in an argument which became a fight, beginning at the doorway of the restaurant then continuing in the parking lot.

“Approximately 5 - 6 people were actively involved in the physical fighting part of it when an uninvolved adult male stepped in and attempted to break up the fight,” police wrote. “One of the males involved in the melee stabbed the man in the back who was trying to end it.”

The victim was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police, and no other serious injuries occurred during the fight. APD didn’t have any suspect description available Saturday morning.

“It does not appear that the two groups of people knew one another prior to the disturbance,” police wrote.

Police are asking anyone with information about the fight who hasn’t already spoken with officers to call APD at 907-786-8900 or contact Crime Stoppers at 907-561-STOP or through its website.
