Anchorage Police are searching for a vehicle and a suspect in a shooting they say is drug-related.

Around 5:30 Thursday evening, a passerby called 911 to report an altercation in the area of 72nd Avenue and O'Brien Street in the Abbott-Loop neighborhood in east Anchorage.

The witness reported two men were fighting inside a car, and that she saw guns lying in the road after the men got out of the vehicle.

About 15 minutes later, dispatch received a call from a man claiming to have been shot. Officers responded to the 1200 block of Elegante Lane where they found the victim suffering a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the leg. He was taken to the hospital for treatment; his identity has not been released.

APD says the victim and the suspect apparently met up for a drug sale, and at the time of the altercation, the two were inside the victim's car, a blue Audi with temporary tags. After the victim was shot, he exited the vehicle and the suspect drove away with both the victim's money and car.

Authorities have not yet released a description of the suspect.

If you have any information that may be useful to investigators, please call dispatch.
