A traffic collision on the Glenn Highway has created another headache for motorists traveling to Anchorage from the Valley.

Anchorage Police say a helicopter has been called to the Glenn Highway at North Eagle River to medevac injured parties.

Inbound traffic is being diverted at the North Birchwood exit. Traffic was backed up to the Chugiak exit.

An officer at the scene says the crash happened around 2 p.m. A man driving inbound going the speed limit rear-ended a car stopped in traffic, which then hit the car in front of it.

Three people were taken to the hospital, one of whom was taken by helicopter. None of the injuries are said to be life-threatening, according to the officer on scene.

Meanwhile, motorists commuting in from the Valley are already being detoured off the Glenn because of a damaged overpass that was struck by a semi hauling an oversized load.
