A North Pole man faces DUI and assault charges, after Alaska State Troopers say he opened fire on another vehicle Tuesday evening.

Word reached troopers just after 6:30 p.m. Tuesday of “an individual shooting multiple rounds from a moving green Ford pickup truck,” troopers wrote in an online dispatch.

“Multiple AST units responded and contacted Curtis Gearhart, 52 of North Pole,” troopers wrote. “Curtis was hostile towards AST and appeared highly intoxicated.”

Troopers spokeswoman Megan Peters said there were no apparent injuries in the case, but that Gearhart “threatened and scared people.”

“The suspect shot windows out of an occupied vehicle,” Peters wrote in an email Wednesday.

Gearhart was held at the Fairbanks Correctional Center on charges including DUI, weapons misconduct and assault.
