An Anchorage man is behind bars after a home security system caught him breaking into a Rabbit Creek home, authorities say.

APD says 47-year-old Leo W. Hanna was arrested on multiple charges after the homeowner, who was out of state, got alerted that there was motion inside their home.

Just before 10 p.m. on Saturday, police say a caller reported a burglary in progress at their neighbor's house located on the 6900 block of Rabbit Creek Road. The homeowner asked the neighbor to call 911 after their security system alerted them.

When officers arrived, they set up a perimeter and saw a male inside the home. Police then asked the suspect to come out. After a few minutes, he finally came out and was taken into custody without incident.

Police say the suspect was able to gain access by breaking into a second-story balcony door.

Hanna was charged with burglary in the first-degree, criminal mischief in the third-degree and violations of conditions of release. He was also jailed on three outstanding felony warrants.
