Anchorage Fire Department says crews were not able to save a south Anchorage commercial structure after it was destroyed by a fire early Sunday morning.

At 3:15 a.m. a caller reported seeing fire and smoke coming from the business (Bar-B-Q Pit) located in the 1100 block of West Dimond Boulevard, according to an Nixle sent by AFD. The first unit arrived within six minutes and found heavy fire coming from the the back of the building. A "Second Alarm" was requested to bring additional resources.


"Due to the advanced state of the fire upon arrival of firefighting crews, only exterior firefighting operations were possible," AFD said. 

The fire was under control at 6:23 a.m.

To control the fire, it took a total of 21 fire suppression, plus command and support units.

No one was injured in the fire.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. 

No further details were immediately made available.
