An occupant of a Midtown trailer home was shot but expected to survive early Saturday, after Anchorage police say a group of men committed a “drug-related and targeted” invasion of the residence.

Officers responded at about 12:30 a.m. to the home, on the 900 block of Chugach Way near Arctic Boulevard and 36th Avenue, APD spokeswoman Renee Oistad said in a statement.

“Initial indications are that three masked adult males entered the home where two adult occupants were sleeping,” Oistad wrote. “Some type of altercation ensued ending in one of the suspects shooting one of the occupants in the chest.”

The suspects left after the shooting, and the victim was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Asked whether any of the occupants had guns or were able to return fire, Oistad said that “only one person fired a weapon.”

Beyond saying the shooting “appears to be drug-related and targeted,” police didn’t have any suspect descriptions or word on whether anything was taken from the home.

Police are asking anyone with information on the shooting to call APD at 907-786-8900, or contact Anchorage Crime Stoppers at 907-561-STOP or through its website.
