Bean's Cafe is putting on its 24th annual Empty Bowl Project fundraiser to help feed hungry Alaskans.

"It's really about calling attention to the fact that we have a lot of hungry people in our community and there are many people, including children, who are coming home every day to an empty bowl", said Lisa Sauder, Bean's executive director.

Over 1,300 bowls have been handmade by Alaskans for the event. They will be up for purchase at the Saturday event, along with two winning soups that will be served at the fundraiser and all the cornbread you can eat.

The event is Bean's most successful fundraiser year-round.

The Empty Bowl Project event will take place on March 10, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Dena'ina Center. For tickets head to Bean's website.
