A powerful storm in the Bering will send in cloudy skies to Southcentral on Friday. It will also push in a little milder air from the west/southwest, so we should make it up to the mid-20s for daytime high temperatures into next week. The mornings won't be as cold once we get past Friday morning.

Light snow showers should start falling after midnight on Friday and go through Saturday morning, at least. That means, from 1"-2" of new snowfall on the Iditarod Ceremonial Start and for the "Running of the Reindeer".

The heaviest snowfall will be from Anchorage to the Valley. Lesser amounts of around 1" will fall on the Kenai Peninsula-- most of that should fall early Saturday morning. Wind should be light with this weak system which will quickly depart the area.

On Sunday, there will be some partial clearing and then, next week, it looks like more light snow will move in from time to time.
