Juneau police say a man has been charged with murdering two people found shot more than two years ago, with few details on the case against him initially released.

A grand jury indicted 40-year-old Laron Graham Friday on two counts of first-degree murder, according to a police statement, in the Nov. 15, 2015 deaths of 36-year-old Robert Meiries and 34-year-old Elizabeth Tonsmeire.

The two had been reported dead in a 911 call shortly after noon that day at a home on the 2700 block of Roger Street, on Douglas Island.

“In essence, the male caller reported finding two dead people inside the residence,” police wrote at the time.

Graham has been held at the Spring Creek Correctional Center in Seward on unrelated charges.

The Juneau Empire reported that Graham was convicted in 2016 on more than a dozen domestic-violence charges involving a threat to throw his girlfriend and her 1-year-old child out of a window. Graham, representing himself, had argued at trial that police and the FBI were attempting to blame him for a homicide.

The police statement deferred any further questions on the case to the Juneau district attorney’s office, which was closed Friday afternoon.
