Governor Bill Walker is taking steps to keep Alaskan kids safer.

The "Safer Alaska" legislation is aimed at addressing child abuse and rehabilitating prisoners.

One bill requires training for "mandatory reporters" and expands abuse-related training for parents and teachers.

The second piece increase access to rehab and re-entry programs for offenders to make sure they have support when they're out of jail.
